Most of our clients arrive with a specific frustration. Here are the two patterns we see most often.
The problem
Revenue has plateaued or margins are shrinking, but nobody in the leadership team can agree on why. Reports pile up. Meetings run long. Decisions stall. Meanwhile, competitors move faster.
Departments working toward conflicting goals
Pricing that hasn't been reviewed in two years
Customer acquisition costs rising quarter on quarter
Staff turnover draining institutional knowledge
What we do about it
We spend the first two weeks inside your business: sitting in on meetings, reviewing financial data, interviewing team leads. No surveys. No generic frameworks. By week three you receive a prioritised action plan with owners, deadlines and expected financial impact for each item.
Root-cause diagnosis, not symptom management
Costed recommendations with payback timelines
Implementation support for 90 days after delivery
What we offer
Six practice areas. Each one can be engaged independently or combined into a broader programme.
Strategic planning
Three-year plans grounded in your actual capacity and cash flow, not aspirational slide decks. We pressure-test every assumption with your finance team before anything goes to the board.
Operational efficiency
We map your core processes end to end, identify bottlenecks and remove them. One logistics client cut order-to-dispatch time from 72 hours to 31 hours within eight weeks of our engagement.
Digital transformation
Technology selection, vendor negotiation and rollout management. We have guided 14 mid-market firms through ERP migrations since 2019, with an average go-live delay of under five days.
People and culture
Retention diagnostics, leadership coaching and compensation benchmarking. We work with your HR team to design structures that keep your best performers without inflating payroll beyond budget.
Financial restructuring
Cash-flow forecasting, debt renegotiation support and cost-reduction programmes. We sit alongside your CFO to build models that the bank will actually trust.
Growth advisory
Market entry analysis, acquisition screening and partnership structuring. We helped a Welsh food manufacturer evaluate and close two bolt-on acquisitions in a single financial year.
How an engagement works
Four phases, typically completed in 10 to 14 weeks depending on scope.
Discovery
A 90-minute call followed by a two-week on-site immersion. We review financials, attend team meetings and interview up to 15 stakeholders. No questionnaire can replace being in the room.
Diagnosis
We synthesise findings into a single document: what is working, what is not, and why. Each issue is ranked by financial impact and implementation difficulty. You see this before we propose anything.
Action plan
A prioritised roadmap with clear owners, deadlines and resource requirements. We present it to your leadership team in person and adjust based on feedback the same day.
Implementation support
We stay available for 90 days: weekly check-ins, ad-hoc calls, and two on-site review sessions. If something is off track, we help course-correct before momentum is lost.

Who we are
Valuepath Consultants was founded in 2018 by two former operations directors who spent 15 years inside FTSE 250 companies before deciding they could do more good on the outside. Our team of seven consultants is based in Wales, though most of our work takes us across England, Scotland and occasionally Ireland.
We are not a firm that sends junior analysts to collect data and senior partners to present it. The person who does the analysis is the person in your boardroom. That is a deliberate choice and it is the reason our recommendations stick.
Questions we hear often

A typical 12-week programme for a mid-market company runs between £18,000 and £35,000 depending on scope and travel requirements. We quote a fixed fee after the discovery call so there are no surprises. Expenses are included in the price.
Yes. About a third of our clients have fewer than 50 employees. The process is the same but the timeline is shorter: usually six to eight weeks. We have a reduced-scope package designed specifically for owner-managed businesses turning over between £1m and £10m.
Manufacturing, professional services, food and drink, and logistics make up most of our portfolio. That said, the operational and financial principles we apply are transferable. We have completed successful engagements in healthcare, education and construction as well.
We do not write grant applications ourselves, but we regularly prepare the business cases and financial models that underpin them. We can also recommend specialist grant writers we have worked with in Wales and the wider UK.
Many clients move to a quarterly review arrangement: a half-day on-site session every three months to track progress against the plan and adjust priorities. This is billed separately at a day rate. There is no long-term contract; you continue only as long as it is useful.
